About Think Brick New Zealand
Think Brick New Zealand represents New Zealand’s clay brick and paver manufacturers. We aim to inspire contemporary brick architecture and building design in all areas of the built environment: commercial, residential and landscape. Think Brick New Zealand works closely with Think Brick Australia and has access to extensive research and resources carried out by Think Brick Australia. Think Brick New Zealand and Australia strive to ensure clay brick is recognised as a pre-eminent building material by leading architects, developers, builders and property owners.
Bricks have been produced in New Zealand since 1852 when Dr Daniel Pollen recognised the value of the clay deposits on his Rosebank Peninsula property. Since those humble beginnings the brick manufacturing industry grew and is intrinsically linked with the great kiwi dream of home ownership. After all, property is often referred to as ‘bricks and mortar’.
New Design
We inspire new thinking in building design and architecture. In Australia each year the Think Brick Awards are run to encourage architects designers and builders to rethink brick as a contemporary and sustainable design material.
Contemporary
Lifestyle
By working closely with leading builders and developers we are ensuring brick homes are recognised as the most thermally comfortable, cost-effective and contemporary option for new home builders. We support events and industry initiatives that will deliver better results for our communities in the areas of affordability, sustainability and good design.
Sustainability
We invest in research to ensure brick products and forms of construction lead the debate on sustainability. We utilise research carried out by Think Brick Australia in partnership with the world-ranked University of Newcastle where extensive research is being undertaken into the thermal performance of masonry and other materials. The findings of this research will assist the building and construction industries to create more energy efficient buildings.
